The Mod 75 rule

AT&T uses the modified rule of 75 (Mod 75) for retirement eligibility, pension and retiree medical benefits: your age plus your years of service must equal 75 or more.

Lump sum or annuity

Retirees eligible for an AT&T pension can typically choose between ongoing annuity payments or a lump sum payout.

Interest rates and timing

Generally, lower interest rates result in higher lump sum payouts, while rising rates can reduce them. AT&T allows employees to defer pension collection to a later date.

You can start the pension benefit process up to 180 days before your benefit start date, through the Fidelity Service Center or access.att.com.
