Unagreed Issues

Appealing In Court

If you don't respond to the 30-day letter sent to you after an audit, or if you do not agree with the findings of the Appeals Officer, you'll receive a notice of deficiency from the IRS (referred to as a '90-day letter'). To file suit in U.S. District court or the Court of Federal claims, you must first pay the tax that results from the audit, and then file a claim for a credit or refund with the IRS.
