Participating employees elect to contribute a certain percentage of their compensation to the plan through payroll deduction, and you typically supplement those employee contributions with employer-matching contributions. Your matching contributions may be made on a dollar-for-dollar basis or under some other type of formula, and are often a strong incentive for employees to participate in the plan.
