Jackson is now on disability, so she helps pay for groceries, gas, utilities, and prescription drugs.  She has just been informed that she would be eligible for Medicare in a few months’ time, but this will leave her with around $38,000 of medical debt that she has no way of paying after monthly expenses are covered.

Jackson’s cancer has not responded to chemotherapy, so she is still undergoing treatment through a clinical trial.
